Empowering Future Talent: Designing Synchrony's Inclusive Business Leadership Program Site
A few years ago, our team was given the opportunity to design and build a website for Synchrony that outlined and promoted their Business Leadership Program (BLP). The program is used to recruit and develop young and new talent with a focus on diversity and inclusion. The program had been up and running prior to us taking on the design and implementation of the website. They needed a digital presence in order to expand the program and keep a fresh stream of talent flowing into the organization.
We started out with an initial creative launch where each member of the creative team came up with a few ideas for themes that the entire campaign would be built on. After a couple weeks we landed on the <BE> Campaign which incorporated the word "BE" in different parts of other words like "<BE>GIN" and phrases like "<BE>ENGAGED." The use of the <> elements were a nod to technology and coding which was really well received by the client and we were given the green light to proceed with the look and feel of the campaign.
I was given the opportunity to work on the initial mockups for several pages. I have been using Adobe XD for some time now and used it to design the mockups below. We weren't given access to Figma at the company I worked for during this period because of security issues. We ran into that a lot unfortunately and were always having to find ways to work around obstacles given to us by the IT department and security. We were eventually given permission to download and use Figma towards the end of my time with the company. My creative director worked with our lead web developer to initiate "Figma Fridays" where members of the creative team would meet on Teams and learn the basics of Figma from our lead developer. It was really great and informative. I am currently working on obtaining a Figma certification through the Figma website which I hope to have completed soon.
Below are the initial mockups I created in XD. Once they were approved they were handed off to our developer who built this site. The whole project took a few months to come together and a lot of trouble shooting prior to its launch. The site is quite successful and continues to receive a lot of traffic on a daily basis.
